- Dr. Smith’s area of interest is in rehabilitation and disabilities studies, especially with regard to women with disabilities. Specifically, her interest is on barriers that prevent access to employment, health care and transportation. Dr. Smith had been an occupational therapist since 1982 and has worked in many aspects of the profession including direct care, management, consultation with industry such as Walt Disney World and most recently as a faculty member at Saint Louis University. She is also currently on the editorial board of the American Journal of Occupational Therapy.
