- Dr. Harvey's area of professional interests utilizes research and population-based interventions to address social, psychological, physical, and biological influences on health behavioral change among minority and aged communities. Dr. Harvey plans to explore the role of information technology in health behavioral changes among older women of color.

- investigates health disparities among older minority women and examining factors associated with preventive health screening services through informal social network interventions
- utilizies community-based participatory research methods to examine how social justice issues are linked to health behaviors
- focuses on mproving the health status among the elderly with an emphasis in spirituality and health behavioral change
- examines the role of religion and spirituality in the self-management of chronic illness among the aged
