NTRL Neurotrauma Research Laboratory

Welcome

Welcome to the Neurotrauma Research Laboratory, part of the Athletic Medicine Reasearch Group, in the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. The Neurotrauma Research Laboratory is focused on research pertinent to expanding the scientific knowledge base that informs the practice of sports medicine. The primary focus of the Neurotrauma Research Laboratory relates to the examination of direction and magnitude of impact resulting in concussion and the consequent clinical outcomes. The research questions and projects of the lab range from basic to applied and are often multi-disciplinary in nature. As such, the Neurotrauma Research Laboratory will frequently collaborate with other investigators in the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health, other departments across the University of Illinois campus, and researchers and clinicians from a variety of academic and industrial settings.

In addition to supporting faculty led research projects, the Neurotrauma Research Laboratory provides essential research opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Laboratory experiences will expand a student’s theoretical knowledge, develop unique and innovative research skills, and foster intellectual growth through scholarly inquiry.

In the following pages you will find information for educational purposes only. If you, or someone you know, has sustained a concussion, consult your physician or other medical professional. No two concussions are alike, making individualized care an important aspect of proper concussion management.
