Exercise Psychophysiology Research Laboratory
Welcome
Welcome to the Exercise Psychophysiology Laboratory of the Department of Kinesiology at The University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign.
Exercise Psychophysiology is a discipline to develop and apply measurement theory, Psychology, and physiological analysis to the field of Kinesiology. We study the interaction of psychological and physiological processes in the context of Kinesiology. We are particularly interested in the effects of physical activity on cognitive and emotional health. We approach these questions from a theory-based multi-level integrative perspective, using psychophysiological, self-report, and behavioral methodologies. To this effect, our laboratory is equipped with instruments for the recording of electroencephalographic (EEG) and electromyographic (EMG) activity, as well as computer-based systems for the assessment of self-report and behavior
In addition to supporting faculty led research projects, the Exercise Psychophysiology Laboratory provides essential research opportunities for Kinesiology students in the undergraduate and graduate education programs at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Laboratory experiences will expand a student’s theoretical understanding of the profession of Behavior Kinesiology, develop unique and innovative research skills, and foster intellectual growth through scholarly inquiry.
