McAuley Appointed to Center on Health, Aging, & Disability Executive Board
Edward McAuley was recently appointed to the Executive Board of the Center on Health, Aging, and Disability. The new center will be located in the future addition to the north end of Huff Hall.
Doerksen Takes Position at Penn State University
Shawna Doerksen has accepted a position as Assistant Professor in the Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Management at Pennsylvania State University. She will begin her appointment in August 2008.
McAuley Awarded Distinguished Professorship
Edward McAuley was recently named as the first recipient of the Shahid and Ann Carlson Kahn Endowed Professorship in Applied Health Sciences. The investiture for this award took place on October 5, 2007.
Critical Initiative in Research and Scholarship Grant Awarded
Professors McAuley, Kim Collins, David Strausser, and Robert Motl have been
awarded a two-year Critical Initiative in Research and Scholarship grant
from the Vice Chancellor for Research's Office to study "Psychological
Disorders on Campus: Exercise Effects on Symptoms, Academic Performance
and Social Integration."
McAuley Receives Campus Award
Professor Edward McAuley was awarded the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign campus award for Excellence in Guiding Undergraduate Research.
Hu Awarded Research Grant
Liang Hu, senior doctoral student, was recently awarded a National Insttitute on Aging Graduate Student Research Grant by the Center for Healthy Minds at UIUC.
Morris Awarded Research Grant
Katherine Morris was awarded an American College of Sports Medicine
Foundation Graduate Student Research Grant for her dissertation work, titled "Physical Activity, Disablement, and Quality of lIfe in Older Adults with Mobility Impairments."
