Welcome to the homepage of the Exercise Psychology Laboratory (EPL) in the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health of the University of Illinois. The EPL is directed by Professor Edward McAuley, and has its focus on the study of determinants and consequences of physical activity behavior across the lifespan.

Members of the EPL

Research conducted in the EPL employs a social cognitive perspective to examine how social, physiological, behavioral, and psychological factors influence and are influenced by physical activity across the lifespan. This approach allows us to examine the contribution of these factors to quality of life, psychological health, and physical function in older adults.
