C. Professional Experience

2007-Present

Introduction to Latent Variable Methods in Measurement Research on Aging-This workshop covered research methods including factor analysis, item response theory, and differential item functioning using Mplus software. Workshop attendee, Harvard Medical Center.

Instructor: Physical Activity and Health. An introductory-level course designed to educate students with the dimensions of wellness and the physical and psychological benefits associated with a physically active lifestyle. Additionally, students are presented with cognitive-behavioral strategies that promote behavior change. Responsibilities include course development, grading, tutoring, and lecturing.

Teaching Assistant: Introduction to Sport and Exercise Psychology. Responsibilities include grading, tutoring, administration of exams, and lecturing.

Research Assistant: Healthy, Active, Lifestyle Trial (HALT)- NIA funded 12 month randomized controlled exercise intervention examining the effects of aerobic activity on cognitive function, immunological markers, and psychosocial factors in older adults. Research Assistant: Physical Activity in Individuals with Multiple Sclerosis (PhAIM-S)- Randomized controlled exercise intervention examining the effects of self-efficacy on exercise adherence in MS patients. Responsibilities include supervision of exercise sessions, functional fitness testing, and data collection.

Research Assistant: Activity, Gait, and Efficacy (AGE)- NIA funded longitudinal study examining the relationships between physical activity, gait and balance, bone health, and psychosocial correlates in older African American and Caucasian women.

Research Assistant: Physical Activity and Quality of Life During Menopause (LIFEPAQ)- Randomized controlled exercise trial examining the relationship between physical activity, menopausal symptoms, and quality of life in menopausal women. Responsibilities include maximal graded exercise testing and assessments of body composition and bone densitometry using dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA).

Master's Thesis: Self-efficacy, Activity, Function, and the Environment (SAFE)- Prospective study examining the relationships between the physical environment, physical activity, and function in older African American and Caucasian women. Responsibilities include recruitment, scheduling, data collection, payment, and data analysis.
