Comments from undergraduates about their experiences working in the EPL

How has working with older adults impacted you?

What I value most from this experience has been the interaction with the older adults in the program. During the [testing] especially, I really enjoyed socializing with them, hearing about their life stories and listening to them rave about how the program has changed their habits and their lives.

In my mind, working with Activity, Gait and Efficacy [project] is the perfect opportunity for me because it allows me to gain exposure to exercise physiology while working with a population I am most interested in.

Initially, I believe that I wanted to work as a pediatric physical therapist; however, this research opportunity has made me interested in the older population and their health and welfare.

I truly enjoy the participants that we have been working with. They are great to talk with and have very positive outlooks on life. I look forward to working more with the elderly in the future.

Many of the participants have also inspired me by their willingness to be involved in such a study and by their hope that the results of this study will help other people at their age enjoy a better quality of life.
