Brain Injury Research Laboratory
Welcome
Welcome to the Brain Injury Research Laboratory in the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. The Brain Injury Research Laboratory and the Neuromuscular Research Laboratory form the Sports Medicine Research Laboratories which collaborate to conduct research pertinent to expanding the scientific knowledge base that informs the practice of athletic training. The primary focus of the Brain Injury Research Laboratory relates to the examination of direction and magnitude of impact resulting in concussion and the consequent clinical outcomes. The research questions and projects of the lab range from basic to applied and are often multi-disciplinary in nature. As such, the Brain Injury Research Laboratory will frequently collaborate with other laboratories in the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health as well as other departments across the University of Illinois campus.
In addition to supporting faculty led research projects, the Brain Injury Research Laboratory provides essential research opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Laboratory experiences will expand a student’s theoretical knowledge, develop unique and innovative research skills, and foster intellectual growth through scholarly inquiry.
