Biomechanic Research Laboratory
Welcome
Welcome to the Biomechanics Research Laboratory in the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. The Biomechanics Research Laboratory conducts research pertinent to expanding the scientific knowledge base that relates to the studies of skilled motor performance from an interdisciplinary perspective. Research has focused on movement speed-accuracy trade-offs with specific interest in how movement accuracy changes as force requirements increase, how vision is used for controlling movement, and use of augmented information for skill acquisition. The research questions and projects of the lab range from basic to applied and are often multi-disciplinary in nature. As such, the Biomechanics Research Laboratory will frequently collaborate with other laboratories in the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health as well as other departments across the University of Illinois campus.
In addition to supporting faculty led research projects, the Biomechanics Research Laboratory provides essential research opportunities for Kinesiology students in the undergraduate and graduate education programs at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Laboratory experiences will expand a student’s theoretical understanding of the profession of Behavior Kinesiology, develop unique and innovative research skills, and foster intellectual growth through scholarly inquiry.
