Athletic Training Educational Program

Graduate Admissions Criteria

In addition to meeting the University of Illinois Graduate School This link takes you off the KCH site admission requirements, admission to the Graduate Athletic Training Education Program requires:

  • Official transcripts for a Baccalaureate or entry-level Masters degree from a CAATE accredited Athletic Training Education Program
  • A minimum grade-point average of 3.0 (A=4.0) for the last 60 hours of undergraduate work and any graduate work completed
  • Official results of the aptitude portions of the Graduate Record Examination (a cumulative score of 1000 is expected)
  • Statement of interest describing your previous academic work in athletic training, your objective(s) for pursuing a graduate degree, professional career plans, and your interest in an assistantship (if applicable)
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Copy of BOC certification or identification of date when exam will be attempted
  • Non-refundable application fee of $40

International students must also submit TOEFL scores (the minimum requirement is 580).  Students for whom English is not their native language and wish to be considered for a teaching assistantship, are required to achieve a score of 230 or higher on the Test of spoken English (TSE) or the Speaking Proficiency English Assessment Kit (SPEAK) on versions prior to 1996, or a score of 50 or higher on the newer versions.
