Yes, the University requires it and it is included in the cost of the trip for the period May 14th to June 3rd.
Almost all do. While the vast majority are taking it for credit, there may be others taking the course for CHES Category I Continuing Education Hours. In addition, several others are coming along for the fun of it. If you have a partner you would like to bring along, don't hesitate to inquire.Regardless, tuition paying students have priority for going.
Absolutely! An abundance of information on what to see and how to get there will be provided to you. In fact, this site will try and post as many up-to-date travel information as possible. There is plenty of free time during the trip and you will have two complete weekends free to do whatever and go anywhere you desire.
In many respects it is and in some ways it is different. For those taking the course for credit there are required readings, a class project, and a final exam to take just as in any course. At the same time the format is quite different. For the most part the course is based on making site visitations to health and health promotion organizations. A take-home final exam will be given out at the end of the course and you will have two weeks to complete and return it. Other course requirements for those taking the course for credit or continuing education units include mandatory attendance at sessions, completing evaluation forms for each session, making a site visit to a health promotion organization on your own, and maintaining a daily log throughout the trip.
